Nice atmosphere, great food - we had the Porterhouse steak (not for the first time, this was a return visit) and the chef definitely knows how to cook them to perfection. Don't wear your tightest clothing, as portion sizes are VERY generous
Nice place but crammed as in tables are very close to each other. Last time we went there with four of my colleagues there was a problem. Once: we found a big chunk of plastic inside our food, two: myself and another colleague felt very rough after eating their food. We both had different meals and different desserts and drinks. Not a coincidence. I emailed them and they wanted me to fill in a form. I have been there many times and the potions were big but I think lately the hygiene must have gone down. Prices are also not the cheapest. Feeling good ill is something that persuaded me not to go back again. Sorry. Thank you but no thank you. Plenty of other nice restaurants in the area.
It was nice. Atmosphere is really vibrant. But, the food wasn't as good as expected. It was nice, don't get me wrong. I guess I built up high expectations from other people telling how good it is.. Actually I wanted to go to Fish on the Green. But it was closed that time of the year. Also no parking. For that reason 4 stars.
The steamer! What am I talking about? Peep through the British (and Mexican) inspired menu and there the entry lies. Thank you to the excellent serving staff to point this dish out. Its a suet pudding packed with huge tender chunks of meat with a red wine sauce infused gravy. The side of peas are served alongside your choice of chips, mash or perfectly seasoned boiled potatoes. After consuming the flavoursome, meaty scallops starter, the steamer surprised. Sorry to go on about it, but It is the best pie Ive tasted in my life. The Oak on the Green is a cracking country pub. Hops hang from the ceiling and memorabilia from days long ago in the towns history hang purposefully on its bare brick walls.Warm, comfortable and serving amazing food.
Really nice pub went there for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was very busy and apparently that is a normal day so definitely book in advance. There is not a lot of parking space we got the last space when we went. Really nice inside and nice food and huge portions! A few vegan options I really liked the vegan nachos also there chips are really nice and crispy. Very nice staff as well.
